Work has started on Phase II of the Hartlepool Innovation Centre. This is the second building on Queens Meadow Business Park that P+HS have designed for UK Steel Enterprise Limited. The foundations are complete and erection of the steel frame is well underway [approx 70% complete]. Work on the roof is due to start later this week, whilst the concrete first and second floors are programmed to commence on 28th October.

Contract Value: £2.9m
Completion Date: May 2011.

Interesting to flick through for 5 minutes and don’t worry, there’s some more modern stuff than the house shown above in there too.

I visited Sheffield last week and got the chance to visit the Winter Gardens and railway station. The newly renovated public spaces in Sheffield were some of the best I’ve seen and the work has been successfully carried on into the city towards Sheffield Hallam University and the Winter Gardens.

The new Dalby Forest Visitor Centre. Mostly timber, with some glulam beams. Let down by inadequate detailing and workmanship, which means poor finish and lots of future maintenance.
Don’t bother with the food – it ranks as one of the worst meals ever.
