The shortlist for the Building Better Healthcare Awards has been announced, and we’re on it!

Washington Primary Care Centre is shortlisted in the Best Primary Care Design category: developed for Sunderland Teaching PCT with Laing O’Rourke, this superb building is certainly attracting attention and recently scooped the award for Best Healthcare Building at the Northern LABC awards.

The White Paper ‘Our Health, Our Care, Our Say’ sets out a vision to provide people with good quality social care and NHS services in the communities where they live. In line with government policy to decentralise some healthcare services, P+HS has been working with its clients to deliver facilities for local communities which combine healthcare provision with services such as pharmacy, social care, housing, sport and leisure, and library resources. We have identified such developments as ‘ Integrated Healthcare’, and a new section on our website showcases these projects. Hope you like it.

Following a Planning Approval in June of this year for the above project, P+HS Architects have been working to a very tight programme with Simons Construction and the design team for an on-site start this month. The foundations for 7,000 tonnes of concrete, anticipated for the 3 Linac Bunkers are currently in progress. The steel frame has been designed and is awaiting fabrication.

The scale model provides some images of the final proposals in context. This has been a useful tool for helping the client and contractor understand the design and proposals along side the drawings at regular meetings up to present.

The BBC recently had a days filming at the new ‘Fodder’ farm shop and cafe building we designed for the Yorkshire Agricultural Society on The Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.
Apparently, they filmed for 12 hours and somehow this has been condensed into 3 full minutes! and this will be aired this Friday 21st August on the BBC1 One Show (7pm start).
